Simple Classic Theme public beta

Released: 18th of October 2023

Changes:

• Fixed RetroBar .NET version check.
• Support for replacing icons in Windows 8.1 and versions of Windows 10 older than 1903.
• Reenabled AHK Script Manager. Note that scripts requiring administrative privileges will not correctly function.

The following is still in place from public beta 1:
• Temporarily disabled new update system.
• Temporarily disabled uninstaller.
• Temporarily disabled target directory for installation.

Note: A lot of these changes still need documentation. This will be done nearing the final release of 2.0.

Notes:

• This version of SCT is not compatible with any other version of SCT, except 2.0 public beta 2 (2.0.0.168).This includes previously installed and removed versions of SCT.
• Please run the preinstall script first. This sets up the directory structure needed for applying resources.
• For optimal results, try the public beta on a Windows 10 VM. Testing was mainly conducted with Windows 11, but Windows 10 just works a bit better with CT.
• SCTT requires .NET Desktop Runtime 5.0 and the latest Visual C++ Redistributable for your platform. RetroBar requires .NET Desktop Runtime 6.0. Install these requirements before running SCT. Simple Classic Theme will refuse to install if these dependencies are not met.
• Like with the previous release, free to contact me if you see missing system icons. This release contains the most important ones, but a lot are still missing.

Released: 1st of October 2023

Changes:

• Changed version number to 2.0.0.
• Fixed and enabled SCT.SystemResources. This is a new tool that allows you to quickly replace most of your system icons in a fully automated way. It can be found in the menu bar, under File.
• Removed all UI references to GNU GPLv3.
• Added UAC shield to MCT install button.
• Fixed some minor bugs within MCT.
• Fixed menu bar in main window.
• All components are now compiled into a single file again.
• Migrated all projects to SDK-style project files. (Including Leet's Toolkit)
• All components are now versioned the same as the main SCT executable. (you will notice when Leet's Toolkit releases)
• Renamed components according to .NET specification.

  This version of SCT is not compatible with any other version of SCT, including public beta 1. This includes previously installed and removed versions of SCT. Going forward, each of the public beta versions will be compatible with the previous (eg. pb2 -> pb3 is possible).

Changes:

• Added Multi-User Classic Theme. This is a new tool that allows enabling and disabling CT without admin privileges and for multiple users.
• Added new custom Appearance configuration window. It is not yet done, but already works really well.
• Added a much simpler first load installation dialog.
• Added new automated icon replacement tool. Disabled for now.
• Completely rehauled updating. Disabled for now, more details on this will be disclosed later.
• Completely rehauled command line, logging and error handling.
• Completely rehauled resource management. Most resources are now fetched from the website in order to always have the latest version.
• Temporarily split all components into separate files.
• Temporarily disabled AHK Script Manager.
• Temporarily disabled uninstaller.
• Temporarily disabled target directory for installation.
• Removed setup wizard.
• Removed ExplorerPatcher configuration tool.
• Removed support of Open-Shell + StartIsBack++ as a taskbar type.
